Crossing railway tracks is always going to be a problem for cyclists. At Turves a minor road crosses the railway 4 times in 1 1/2 miles, and this one, with concrete panels in steel frames is oblique angled with deep flangeways and wide areas of slippery steel. Modern high friction panels could be justified, if this hazard was actually 'on the record'. If you experience a level crossing crash - use the crossing phone (if available) to stop trains and safely remove any obstruction or use the Network Rail emergency number 08457-11-41-41. Do make sure HMRI records any such incident.
